Ever think about how music plays such a large part in our lives? I can’t think of a day when I did not hear music. It was even incorporated into the classes when I got my personal trainer certification. Whether you have a collection of thousands of CDs or in my case albums or just turn on the radio during your morning commute to work, you are a connoisseur of music.

Do you ever wonder how it gets to you or do you ever wonder who decides what music gets played and what music doesn’t? Do you ever wonder why only positive artists accept played or have their music sold in main retail outlets? Has it ever crossed your mind what trends are going to overtake music next? It can be as confusing as personal trainer certification! The truth is, the solution to most of these questions lies within the main record labels.

If you love or hate an artist, it’s their record label that you either thank or blame. The chief record labels take on fresh artists and promote the sales of their CDs and/or DVDs. They may also assist other companies with tour promotions and other public events that fit in the artist’s niche.

A recording company will usually take on a musician for a particular length of existence or for so loads of recordings. This depends on the terms of the contract negotiated with the key record sections. If you have ever taken a look at your CD and or DVD collection you’ll possibly locate which virtually 90% of them come from 1 of the 5 central record categories in some road shape or form.

Do the names Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Group, Warner Brothers and BMG entertainment highly regarded familiar? These are known as the big 5 and make up the five central record labels. They report for the vast number of artists, videos and movies. When looking for a job in the music industry, the main record sections are the folks to talk to.

You may be searching at your CD covers and if you’re like me you scan the entire label looking for knowledge. You might see a name other than one of the 5 chief record categories. This doesn’t mean that you’ve purchased a CD from a person who duplicated it.

Though, what is most possible happening is which you have bought something from one of their subsidiary agencies. All of the five central record sections own subsidiary agencies. For example, the once awesome Motown record label is today a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Capitol Records is also a member of EMI’s subsidiaries. The list is endless.

The music we listen to now is largely resolved by the five agencies noted. You possibly aren’t concerned in connection with that when you’re dancing to the latest hip-hop hit or singing along to a chart-topping country song. The major record labels do have a road of bringing rhythm to our lives.
