Europe Gross Domestic Product -GDP- grew by 0.4% in the euro zone (EA16) and by 0.2% in the Europe 27 during the third quarter of 2009, compared with the preceding quarter, according to flash estimates published by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In the second quarter of this year, progress rates were -0.2% in the euro area and -0.3% in the EU27.

Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted Gross Domestic Product -GDP- decreased by 4.1% in the euro zone and by 4.3% in the Europe 27 in the third quarter of 2009, after -4.8% and -4.9% respectively in the previous quarter.

During the third quarter of this year, US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- augmented by 0.9% compared with the preceding quarter, after -0.2% in the second quarter. US Gross Domestic Product -GDP- decreased by 2.3% when comparedwith the same quarter of the preceding year (-3.8% in the previous quarter).
